5 futuristic technologies IBM says will soon be a reality

She says you can imagine in the near future talking to your daughter on the phone and there's actually a 3-D holographic image of her.

Topping IBM’s new list of technology predictions for the next five years — 3-D holographic phone calls from your cell.

It wasn’t long ago that cell phones were only used for calls, but experts at IBM had predicted they’d be used for much more.

“At the time the prediction seemed like science fiction,” says Dr. Katharine Frase, IBM Research vice present. She says you can imagine in the near future talking to your daughter on the phone and there’s actually a 3-D holographic image of her.
