Documentary: Children Full of Life

Youtube | April 2, 2012

Comment from Old-Thinker News: Thanks to James Corbett of the Corbett Report for recommending this film. This film offers a glimpse into a different culture and a different take on what an education truly should be. As a westerner, I am struck by how cold and disconnected our classrooms seem to be in comparison. The richness of life and the lessons of reality seen in this film are nowhere to be found in a modern school in America. The weapons of mass instruction formed against us have dealt a blow to our spirits, but I hope that we can recover.

“In the award-winning documentary Children Full of Life, a fourth-grade class in a primary school in Kanazawa, northwest of Tokyo, learn lessons about compassion from their homeroom teacher, Toshiro Kanamori. He instructs each to write their true inner feelings in a letter, and read it aloud in front of the class. By sharing their lives, the children begin to realize the importance of caring for their classmates.”
