Future Shock

youtube | Jan. 28, 2008

Comment: This 1972 documentary, based on Alvin Toffler's book Future Shock, examines society and its relation to change. When you watch this documentary (which carries with it the ideas, political atmosphere and culture of the time), reflect on how much change has taken place since it was made. Technology is advancing exponentially, and society as a whole has changed dramatically. Science is on the verge of creating artificial life. Genetic technologies may give rise to the ability to alter the genetic traits of unborn babies. "Spider goats" were created in the year 2000, born with the ability to produce spider silk from its milk glands.
