The refinement of tyranny and control
into a science is the dream to which the 21st century scientific
dictator aspires. The study of human nature, psychology and biology aid
him in his pursuit. What you will read here is a small window into the
dark mind of a scientific dictator. In combination with
increasingly centralized power and rapidly advancing technology, the
ability of smaller and smaller groups to exercise power and effect
greater numbers of people is a real danger. C.S. Lewis wrote in 1944,
"The real picture is that of one dominant age... which resists all
previous ages most successfully... Man's conquest of nature, if the
dreams of some scientific planners are realized, means the rule of a few
hundreds of men over billions upon billions of men."
Political Ponerology

Within the field of political science
is a study called political ponerology, the study of evil applied to
politics. Every time a society falls into the hands of a brutal dictator,
nearly identical patterns can be observed. The scientific dictatorships
of today and those that may come in the future will follow in the
same vein. This is not by accident. Andrew M. Lobaczewski's ground breaking
1998 book entitled
Political Ponerology
(A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) discusses in depth the nature of psychopaths and
their exploits when in positions of power.
The image of psychopathy that Hollywood has
imposed on society is that of a crazed axe murderer, an easily
identifiable enemy. While psychopaths do sometimes manifest
themselves in this way, there is another more sophisticated type that has not received
as much attention. Psychopaths are exceptional at climbing the rungs
of power because of their lack of empathy and remorse. Back stabbing
and manipulation are done without effort, all the while putting on a
front of surprisingly convincing charm. When these individuals gain
control of corporations, government institutions and the very
foundations of society, millions of people are psychologically and
physically destroyed. Lobaczewski calls this group
the "Pathocracy". He writes,
"Pathocracy is a disease of great social movements followed by
entire societies, nations, and empires. In the course of human
history, it has affected social, political, and religious movements
as well as the accompanying ideologies… and turned them into
caricatures of themselves. That explains why all the pathocracies of
the world are, and have been, so similar in their essential
properties"
"The following question thus suggests itself: what happens if the
network of understandings among psychopaths achieves power in
leadership positions with international exposure? This can happen,
especially during the later phases of the phenomenon. Goaded by
their character, such people thirst for just that even though it
would conflict with their own life interest… They do not understand
that a catastrophe would ensue. Germs are not aware that they
will be burned alive or buried deep in the ground along with the
human body whose death they are causing."
"The actions of [pathocracy] affect an entire society, starting with the
leaders and infiltrating every town, business, and institution. The
pathological social structure gradually covers the entire country
creating a “new class” within that nation. This privileged class feels
permanently threatened by the “others”, i.e. by the majority of normal
people. Neither do the pathocrats entertain any illusions about their
personal fate should there be a return to the system of normal man."
"Thus, the biological, psychological, moral, and economic destruction of
this majority of normal people is a “biological” necessity to the pathocrats. Many means serve this end, starting with concentration camps
and including warfare with an obstinate, well-armed foe who will
devastate and debilitate the human power thrown at him..."
"Any war waged by a pathocratic nation has two fronts, the internal and
the external. The internal front is more important for the leaders and
the governing elite..."
This abhorrent element of humanity seeks to spread their disease to
the wider society, because as Lebaczewski states, "normal man"
represents a grave danger to their pathological system. The scientific
dictatorship is an attempt at the "ultimate revolution", an assurance of domination for the Pathocracy.
H. G. Wells and the Men of the
New Republic
"...They will have an ideal that will make killing
worth the while..."
The
drive for social control and eugenics was largely responsible
for the
emergence and growth of the scientific study of molecular biology.
This came about when
large foundations, primarily the Rockefeller enterprises, set out in the United
States in the early 20th Century to engage in a massive research
campaign to discover the inner workings of man and in turn devise
methods of social-biological control. Thus the United States became
the
20th Century progenitor of eugenics.
The belief that
mankind's rational and scientific control of nature will lead to a kind
of Biocratic Utopia is found throughout the writings of H. G. Wells, Aldous Huxley, and others. These works themselves (which have become
often cited examples of the Biocratic Utopian's ideal world) are
based on what where present day trends in science, along with the
stated goals of the world's elite. The "scientific dictatorship"
that Aldous Huxley spoke of is the natural modern extension to the
age old practice of tyranny.
H. G. Wells brushed shoulders
with and had intimate relationships with some of the most prominent
people of his day, including outspoken eugenicist Margaret Sanger,
Fabian socialist George Bernard Shaw, and the Huxley family. Thomas Henry Huxley, often
referred to as "Darwin's Bulldog" for his strong promotion of
Darwinian ideals, tutored H.G. Wells and taught him biology. Aldous
Huxley and Julian Huxley were T.H. Huxley's grandsons.
As the first director general of
UNESCO, Aldous' brother Julian Huxley wrote in the organization's
1947 mission statement,
"...it will be important for UNESCO to see that the eugenic problem
is examined with the greatest care, and that the public mind is
informed of the issues at stake so that much that now is
unthinkable may at least become thinkable."
H. G. Wells' 1901 book
Anticipations: Of the Reaction of Mechanical and Scientific Progress
upon Human life and Thought describes what Wells calls the "New
Republic". In this book, Wells bluntly states the goals and
intentions of his envisioned New Republic that will, among many
other things, "...have an ideal that will make killing worth the
while," and inflict upon deviants, "good scientifically caused pain,
that will leave nothing but a memory." Wells even predicts the rise
of a union of European states complete with "...homologization of
laws and coinage and measures..." through which "...the final peace
of the world may be assured for ever."
The supposed
superiority of the scientific elite, who have purified themselves of
ancient, outdated ideas and restraining morality, places them in a
position of dominance in Wells' New Republic. The Pathocratic
mindset is clearly seen. Wells writes, "...the ethical
system of these men of the New Republic, the ethical system
which will dominate the world state, will be shaped primarily to favour the procreation of what is fine and efficient..." Death,
writes Wells, is "...the
method that must in some cases still be called in to the help of
man..."
The ethical system of the world state
will "...make killing worth the while."
"The men of the New
Republic will not be squeamish, either, in facing or inflicting
death, because they will have a fuller sense of the
possibilities of life than we possess. They will have an ideal
that will make killing worth the while..."
Wells
wrote the introduction for
Margaret Sanger's 1922 book Pivot of Civilization, where he portrays a
hypothetical conversation between the "New civilization" and the
old. He writes that the elite cannot go on giving the gifts of
freedom, wealth and prosperity to the world if "...all our gifts to
you are to be swamped by an indiscriminate torrent of progeny." He
continues, "...we cannot make the social life and the world-peace we
are determined to make, with the ill-bred, ill-trained swarms of
inferior citizens that you inflict upon us."
Several decades after Wells'
Anticipations, the eugenics of America had spread overseas with
the help of the Rockefeller Foundation. The New York Times reported
on November 24th, 1936; "Rockefeller Gift Aids Reich Science."
The $655,000 grant, reports the Times, was used to build the
Kaiser Wilhelm Institute, which became the center for the Nazi
regime's eugenics program.
George Bernard Shaw, who H.G.
Wells corresponded with frequently, praised the brutal actions
Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini. In this speech, Shaw echoes the
"ethical system" of the "Men of the New Republic" that Wells penned
30 years earlier:
Suicidal Nihilists
"...these
ideas might end up essentially built into the software that runs our
society and our lives..."
As we progress into a time of
exponential development of technology, an elite within the technological
community is seeking to control humanity through
the control of technology. Computer scientist
Jaron Lanier,
named in Time Magazine's top 100
most influential people for 2010, calls this group Cybernetic totalists.
Lanier points out that this elite group may "...cause suffering for
millions of people."
Lanier writes in his "One Half A
Manifesto",
"There
is a real chance that evolutionary psychology, artificial
intelligence, Moore's Law fetishizing, and the rest of the package,
will catch on in a big way, as big as Freud or Marx did in their
times. Or bigger, since these ideas might end up essentially built
into the software that runs our society and our lives. If that
happens, the ideology of cybernetic totalist intellectuals will be
amplified from novelty into a force that could cause suffering for
millions of people."
Lanier concludes, "The
greatest crime of Marxism wasn't simply that much of what it claimed
was false, but that it claimed to be the sole and utterly complete
path to understanding life and reality." and, "There
is nothing more gray, stultifying, or dreary than a life lived
inside the confines of a theory. Let us hope that the cybernetic
totalists learn humility before their day in the sun arrives."
Lanier also mentions life
extension technology, stating that the vast
majority of the population could be priced out of the technology with only a small elite having access. Lanier
himself comes across as an establishment figurehead when he proposes
that the elite keep the technology secret. This, according to
Lanier, is in an attempt to keep the
rest of the world walled off to the life-extending technologies
because there "isn't enough room" on the planet. He
states,
"Cheap near-immortality for everyone is a self-limiting proposition.
There isn't enough room to accommodate such an adventure... On the
other hand, expensive near immortality is something the world could
absorb, at least for a good long while, because there would be fewer
people involved. Maybe they could even keep the effort quiet."
Arthur Kroker,
Professor of Political Science at the University
of Victoria and Director of the Pacific Centre for
Technology and Culture also identified an
abhorrent element within the technological community. "Suicidal
nihilists", states Kroker, "...occupy the commanding heights of
digital reality..." He elaborates, "They can very happily ally
themselves with a notion of nuclear holocaust or perfect exterminism...
They're creating again and again the exterminism of human memory,
the exterminism of human sensibility, the exterminism of
individuated human intelligence, the exterminism of human morality
itself."
There is a reason that our culture
is saturated with degrading imagery and self-esteem destroying
filth. Our very human fiber is being targeted. Every day more people
are coming to mirror the demoralized and decadent elite Pathocracy. This is not
by accident. In every case civilizations fall when humanity is
debased and loses touch with themselves, their neighbors and the
wider world. The worst expression of humanity and evil flows in like
a flood. Our solution lies in re-claiming our very souls and
reconnecting with humanity, turning yourself into an antibody
against the Pathocratic virus.
In the words of C.S. Lewis, writing in
his 1944 book The Abolition of Man, "...we may well thank the
beneficent obstinacy of real mothers, real nurses, and (above all)
real children for preserving the human race in such sanity as it
still possesses. But the man-moulders of the new age will be armed
with the powers of an omnicompetent state and an irresistible
scientific technique..."
