Chongqing to build China’s biggest IoT video surveillance system, tag 200 million cars with RFID

Also, more than 200 million vehicles in China will be equipped with RFID chips when the first implementation phase is completed.

China News Service (CNS) reported Monday.

The project will also be China’s biggest IoT application and will cost 5 billion yuan ($752.41 million).

The video surveillance system will cover Chongqing at its entirety with cameras and wireless sensors. The informations collected will be sent to a central network through Chongqing’s existing public security fiber-optical transmission network and public information network, and will be of use for public safety management, municipal services, transportation, environmental monitoring, disaster early warning and emergency commanding. Over half a million cameras will be installed in the main districts of the city.
